British writer Anne Perry has died at the age of 84 after a very eventful life.
Anne was only 15 when she helped her friend, Pauline Parker, kill Pauline’s mother, Honorah Rieper, in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1954.
After serving a five-year prison sentence, she changed her name from Juliet Marion Hulme to Anne Perry.
Anne was born in London but was sent to the Bahamas at the age of eight where she lived with a foster family. She joined her family when she was thirteen, who later moved to New Zealand, where she met the aforementioned Pauline Parker.
Anne’s family decided to move to South Africa when she was 15, and Anne desperately wanted Pauline to accompany them. However, Pauline’s mother, Honorah, disregarded this and the friends planned to kill her to prevent them from being separated.
Literature was on Anne’s mind after her escape from prison and she published her first novel in 1979. However, it wasn’t until 1994 that her past really came to light, after the Peter Jackson film, celestial creatures , based on the story of Anne. Kate Winslet starred in the film.
Anne had lived in Los Angeles since 2017 and died there last Monday.
