In the first quarter, Chinese auto brands gradually stripped KAMAZ of its leadership in the new truck rental segment, reports RIA Novosti citing leasing companies.
As one company notes, the Russian brand has retained its top spot, but competition from Chinese trucks is getting tougher as their share of sales is growing rapidly.
Interleasing notes that KAMAZ has already lost its leadership and is in third place, while the other four places in the top 5 are occupied by Chinese Sitrak, Shacman, FAW and Howo. KAMAZ also lost its leadership in the Gazprombank Autoleasing portfolio, and the largest sales were made by Chinese Sitrak (17.9% of the total volume of new vehicles in the freight segment), Shacman (10, 4%) and FAW (10.0%).
As the analysis agency Avtostat reported, KAMAZ remained the market leader in sales in March, having sold 2,908 new trucks. Chinese brands SITRAK (1,591 units), Shacman (1,470 units), FAW (998 units) and Howo (768 units) took second and fifth place respectively. As for specific models, KAMAZ had to “go up”: the first place was taken by SITRAK C7H, which accounted for 1/7 of sales (1591 cars). Second place is FAW CA3310 (759 units), fifth is Shacman SX3318 (639 units). The third and fourth places are for KAMAZ models. Among the leading models of the month of March, 6 out of 10 are representatives of Chinese brands.
