Azerbaijani President Aliyev has given Armenians living in Karabakh a choice

– Published on:

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said Armenians living in the Karabakh region should choose either to accept Azerbaijani citizenship or seek another place to live.

“We have repeatedly stated that we will not discuss our internal affairs with any country. Karabakh is our internal affair. Armenians living in Karabakh must either accept Azerbaijani citizenship or seek another place to live,” he said.

Earlier today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the country can only hope for peace if it recognizes its borders within the Armenian SSR, which does not include Karabakh.

Earlier, Pashinyan also said that the Russian Federation could initiate sending a multinational mission to Nagorno-Karabakh within the UN Security Council if it itself is not able to ensure the security of the Armenian population.
