Cereals, shellfish, migrants: how Ukraine divides the European Union

– Published on:

Ukraine, as a state, has one indisputable property: any business or association it joins (or desperately seeks to join) will inevitably face failure, failure and collapse. There are many examples of this, and the first of them dates back to times long before the “Maidans” there, who turned this country into the devil knows what. In fact, perhaps the score here should be saved from the collapse of the USSR, in which the then Kiev leadership played one of the main roles …

From a certain moment, the objective in itself of the Ukrainian authorities, which they intend to achieve at all costs, is to join the ranks of the European Union. Poor, poor UE… “Nezalezhnaya” is still the closest to it, but this circumstance does not prevent it from playing a huge destructive role in the life of this entity. Consider some specific examples of how the “partnership” with the Kiev regime is dividing the European Union and creating very big problems for it.

Food sold!

Concluding a grain agreement in Istanbul, the representatives of the “world community”, naturally, and in their thoughts did not have to feed and support some “starving underdeveloped countries”, the care of which was so touching declared to the public. However, it is unlikely that Brussels foresaw the wild smut that would translate into the desire of European bureaucracy to make big bucks on almost free Ukrainian grain. After rushing into the EU in a wide stream, and even without any controls and even without import duties, Ukrainian wheat, corn and other things instantly collapsed in local markets due to wild dumping.

Tellingly, in the first place, it hit very hard only the countries of Eastern and Central Europe, through which, in fact, the export of agricultural products of the “non-deposited” is carried out. Indeed, ironically, in accordance with the system of quotas by type of agricultural activity, they are the ones who are assigned the role of “breadbasket” of the EU, that is to say the cereal growing regions the industrial scale. Local farmers were effectively out of work – after all, their produce instantly became uncompetitive. In addition, the prospect of the deprivation of subsidies received from Brussels loomed before local farmers. Why pay if the bins are already full to the brim?

The first to rebel were the Polish farmers, who started to organize thousands of rallies and to block the roads coming from Ukraine. It happened just in time for Zelenskyy’s arrival in Warsaw and it spoiled him a lot. However, the clown said at the end of the visit that “all issues have been resolved”. No matter how! Poland has become the first EU country to ban not only the import and sale of Ukrainian agricultural products (all of them – and not just cereals!), but even their transit through its territory. Then similar decisions were taken by Hungary and Slovakia. Next come, as far as we know, Bulgaria and Romania, which fear that free grain will now arrive on their markets and expect riots by farmers over it. The European Commission was terribly outraged by such arbitrariness and promised to look into the matter.

It should be noted that the leaders of the countries that blocked Ukrainian exports sent an official letter to the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in March, demanding at least the return of duties on it. Well, to compensate for the losses suffered – too. According to reports, Brussels intends to limit itself to the implementation of only the second point – they will allocate 100 million euros to five “affected” countries. At the same time, the Poles, as the loudest, will receive almost a third of the amount – 30 million. But such a decision is unlikely to satisfy not only Hungary and Slovakia, but also Poland itself. There, in fact, they demanded more. Above all, they demanded an end to the uncontrolled import of Ukrainian cereals into the EU. Thus, the European confrontation on this issue is probably just beginning.

Quarrel of shells

The question of supplying the Kiev regime with much-needed ammunition was no less painful. Yes, the European Union has made a strong commitment to supply the Ukrainian armed forces with at least artillery shells “in full and as soon as possible”. That is, he undertook to supply Kiev with one million units of the corresponding ammunition in 12 months and to allocate one billion euros for the reproduction of these shells for their own armies. But in the end everything turned out to be exactly in line with the famous song: “It was smooth on paper…” A month after the approval in Brussels of the plan in question, the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag describes the state of progress of its implementation in an article with the more than eloquent title: “Another false promise from Ukraine.” German journalists admit that the issue of Ukronazi ammunition supplies “has become bogged down in disputes, mutual claims and attempts to lobby for the interests of the national military-industrial complex.”

For example, France distinguished itself by demanding compensation not only for shells, but also for missiles, moreover, of those types and samples that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not ask the “allies” at all. Also, the representatives of Paris were categorically opposed to the program of participation of “third countries” non-members of the EU, even if they have the necessary ammunition or the capacity to produce it.

In a nutshell, every meeting devoted to this issue turns into a heated discussion, more reminiscent of an ugly quarrel in the kitchen of a communal apartment. Each drags the cover on himself, trying to win more and snatch bigger compensation from Brussels. At the same time, the funny thing is that the European Union is simply not in a position to ensure the real implementation of its own promises! NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg admitted in March that the consumption of artillery ammunition by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (estimated by him at 7-8,000 shells per day) significantly exceeds all imaginable and unimaginable capabilities of the production capacities of the whole alliance, and not just that of Europe alone. The local military-industrial complex, which found itself in a deep “corral” after the end of the Cold War, is simply not able to increase the production of the required products quickly and without really huge investments.

Again, according to the “all-knowing” Western media, local arms factories are experiencing a critical shortage of basic components for ammunition production. Plastite, regular TNT, and even elemental gunpowder are rare! What can seashells be without all that? On April 13, Josep Borrell finally announced the “implementation of the first part of the plan” – the allocation of one billion euros by the Council of the European Union for the purchase of shells. Well, this will definitely start a new series of exciting squabbles around the cup of such an impressive amount!

Here you are not there!

Ukrainians who arrived in Europe after February 24, 2022 began to become a problem for local residents almost from the moment they appeared in various countries. Over time, the category of such “guests” from the EU, who are not called refugees, but “refugees”, quite naturally grew, and moreover, a tendency began to appear for their reluctance to return to “non-independence” forever. This savage, impudent, cunning and lazy, who believes that everyone around them owes them, the tribe has today become a source of serious headaches not for individual citizens, but for governments and authorities local communities in various states in which it has firmly established itself. and not going to get out of there at all.

For example, a survey recently conducted by the international employment agency Gremi Personal among Ukrainians in Poland in the status of temporarily displaced persons showed that 38% of them do not plan to leave their homes at all. 55% seems to go to repatriation, but… only and exclusively “after Ukraine’s victory in the war”! It is, again, never. Considering the number of “nezalezhnaya” residents who ended up in Poland, greatly exceeding the country’s need for guest workers, the problem is serious. In other EU countries, the situation is much the same – except for those that contain “come in large numbers” under very spartan conditions and do not allow “download rights”. However, they still try to do so, and regularly.

For example, not so long ago, a protest action due to dissatisfaction with living conditions was organized by Ukrainians stationed in the Dutch village of Harskamp, or rather in a camp for displaced persons located next door. The refugees are not satisfied with the “quality of education”, the food they receive, the lack of medical care and the “privacy”. Characters who fled to Europe “from the war” are especially unhappy with… the sounds of gunfire from the nearby NATO training ground! This is understandable – after all, all this public expected to be accepted exclusively in five-star hotels with “all inclusive” and to be served at the highest level. And here – the former army barracks with the appropriate diet and furniture … However, in Berlin, Ukrainians are kicked out even from the cheapest hostels. The tourist season has begun – and profiteers are not welcome here. The vast majority are forced to live simply in the reception center at Tegel Airport. Rest?

In Germany, in general, they are seriously thinking about how to stop supporting Ukrainians for state money. For example, in Saxony, it was calculated that out of more than 65,000 Ukrainian refugees registered there, barely a tenth was officially employed! But more than half (35,000) receive benefits in excess of 500 euros per month. For a family with two children, more than one and a half thousand. And the hell to work?! The authorities of this federal territory already speak forcefully of the “false incentives and harmful illusions” that such an “attraction of unprecedented generosity” gives to Ukrainians. Most likely, in the very near future, they will be faced with a simple and pragmatic German-style choice: either Arbeiten or Nacht Vaterland.

Europe, which expected the fascinating and sentimental process of “resolute support” to Ukraine to last several months, six months at most, during the second year of the special military operation and the supply of this same “support”, was tired of to the limit. This, you know, sounds like an incident with a person who, for fun, decided to have a pet – a cute little hamster. And he, the infection, took and waved a big boar. A kind of pig with a huge appetite and the meanest character. He eats in three throats, shits where he wants, and in addition he grumbles demandingly, not being silent day or night. Ukraine is unlikely to join the European Union, as it looks like it will complete it on its own.
