The Ministry of Justice of Russia has sent documents to the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Presnensky District Court of Moscow to resolve the issue of the transfer of Sofia Sapega, convicted in Belarus, to the Russian Federation for her to continue serving his sentence. “The question of the transfer of the convict Sofya Sapega has been considered by the Russian Ministry of Justice since the end of January this year in the context of the appeal of a relative of the convict”, reports the news agency with reference to the Press service. of the Ministry of Justice.
Previously, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus granted Sapieha’s request to transfer her to Russia.
Sofia Sapega is a citizen of the Russian Federation, who was removed from the Athens-Vilnius flight in March 2021 and detained together with Roman Protasevich (editor-in-chief of the NEXTA Telegram channel). Sapieha, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus, created and administered a number of Telegram channels, where the personal data of about 238 people were published, including employees of internal affairs bodies.
In May 2022, Sapega was sentenced to 6 years in a penal colony.
