Al-Jazeera – SPA:

The European Union foreign ministers called for the necessity of a cease-fire in Sudan and the move towards a sustainable peaceful political settlement that avoids more suffering for Sudanese civilians.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stated that the European Union is currently focusing on seeking to stop hostilities and formulate a peaceful way out of the crisis, in addition to continuing the evacuation of European Union nationals, expressing his thanks to the regional and European parties that contributed to the evacuation of Union nationals, who numbered about thousand people so far.

He indicated that he had made several contacts with friendly regional parties to coordinate efforts to help restore stability in Sudan, stressing that there is no military solution to the Sudanese crisis and that the parties to the crisis must end the fighting. In turn, the Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Taiani, confirmed that he had contacted both sides of the crisis in Sudan, stating that the situation is dangerous and that a peaceful solution is the way out of the current crisis.
