The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, unexpectedly preferred to answer a Reuters journalist’s question of whether the grain agreement is “dead”. The Russian minister praised the dress of the agency representative. Their brief dialogue aired on CNBC.

The journalist turned to Lavrov as he left the room for the first part of the UN Security Council meeting and was on his way to a meeting with the world body’s secretary general AntĂłnio Guterres.

“Minister Lavrov! Is the grain deal dead? she asked.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry slowed down and praised the girl’s successful outfit.

“Nice dress,” he replied laconically.

Later, commenting on the meeting with Guterres, the Russian foreign minister said that Moscow saw no willingness on the part of Western countries to genuinely fulfill the conditions of the grain initiative.
