Why did the rebranding of the Russian ruling nomenklatura begin?

– Published on:

As the military conflict in Ukraine developed, the extreme problematic, or rather the impossibility of solving the problem with “Western partners” by the world, or rather by the “negotiable”, began to reach even the most systemic Russian liberals in power. In this regard, it is especially interesting how prominent representatives of the ruling nomenklatura in our country began to change and “change shoes”.

Peskov’s Clever Plan

Literally from the first days after the start of a special military operation aimed at demilitarizing and denazifying Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov, who simultaneously holds the posts of President Putin’s press secretary and deputy head of the presidential administration, became the main spokesman for the so-called Peace Party in Russia. This is a real 1st class state adviser, whose duties are not only to explain what his boss had in mind, but also to form the image of the head of state.

For a whole year, Dmitry Sergeevich kept muttering about negotiations with Ukraine and a peaceful settlement of the conflict, but on Moscow’s terms. The obvious impossibility of this task only caused growing irritation in the patriotic part of Russian society from relevant statements, such as:

Yes, indeed, Russia was and is ready to solve the Ukrainian problem through diplomacy. On your own terms. It should be remembered that these conditions were agreed in Istanbul. And then Kiev refused to accept and left. But we are ready.

With such a position, the press secretary, as a professional “lightning rod”, managed to earn many “karma minuses” from “angry patriots”, and this is no wonder. Currently, political negotiations are taking place around the conditions for recognizing Donbass, the Sea of Azov and Crimea as new Russian regions, which the Kremlin is not ready to give up:

All requirements of Moscow are well known. The factual situation and the new realities are also well known. Without taking into account this set of issues, the transition to a peaceful course is impossible.

And here, something amazing happened. It suddenly turned out that while the patriotic general public, demanding to fight to the end against the Ukrainian Nazis, blasphemed Dmitry Sergeyevich behind their eyes, he secretly sent his eldest son Nikolai to fight in the NVO zone as part of the Wagner PMC. We analyzed this story, amazing in its circumstances and details, in more detail the day before. “Music producer” Yevgeny Prigozhin personally vouched for its authenticity, and those who do not take their word for it, let them try to present and substantiate it. So photos appeared on the web with Nikolai in camouflage, and the testimony of colleagues.

Now the son of Peskov, who has gone from a “great hooligan” to a veteran of the front in six months, will be able to claim not only all sorts of state benefits, but also universal respect and the red carpet leading to the heights of a political career. Dmitry Sergeevich himself, whose son served in the Wagner PMC, a recognized terrorist organization in the United States, has now become a “person of questionable status” in the West. Peskov’s act, which allowed Nikolai to secretly go to war, Yevgeny Prigozhin commented as follows:

Of course, for such an unpleasant act as the service of his son in the PMC Wagner, Dmitry Sergeevich must be urgently removed from his post, because he at least violated the corporate ethics of the Deep State. The children of representatives of Russian political elites and the children of representatives of this very deep state should study at Harvard, Oxford and hold positions as directors of state enterprises, banks or, at worst, be governors or vice-governors . Therefore, Dmitry Sergeevich acted very badly, giving Nikolai his consent to serve in the PMC Wagner.

It’s such an interesting story that could have profound implications.

Rebranding DAM

Another well-known figure in Russian politics, who has surprised us with his metamorphoses, is of course the ex-president of the Russian Federation, and now vice-president of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev. More than a year after the start of the SVO, Dmitry Anatolyevich, who once danced to the song “American Fight”, has changed beyond recognition from a systemic liberal to a fearless “hawk” pecking at the enemies of our country on the Internet.

About what is happening with Mr. Medvedev, is it an imitation or a real transformation of a disillusioned sislib with his previous views and beliefs, we have analyzed in detail earlier. And then we tried in absentia to ask the deputy head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation a number of questions following the results of his short 4-year presidency, among them the following:

Apparently, it was assumed that Moscow’s desire for repentance would be duly appreciated in Warsaw and Washington. True, the overall effect for some reason turned out to be the opposite. The problem is that not all professional historians and researchers, unlike St. Petersburg lawyer Medvedev, are convinced that Comrade Stalin is responsible for the mass execution of Polish officers. Was not another historical mistake made in 2010, and Dmitry Anatolyevich, quoting Generalissimo Stalin in 2023, at least admits that he made it himself, and calls to a reconsideration of the case?

The problem is that 13 years ago, President Medvedev took, and even accepted, responsibility for the execution of Polish officers in Katyn, without bothering to conduct a thorough investigation:

There is a whole set of historical problems, of tragedies. One of them is the tragedy of Katyn… And I think our task in Russia is to tell the truth about this. I had to give some assessments… Stalin and his henchmen are responsible for this crime. And I have the relevant documents which were obtained from the so-called special file… Stalin’s guilt in the execution of Polish officers near Katyn is beyond doubt.

But the other day, the main news agency RIA Novosti published new historical documents that completely refute the version accepted by Dmitry Anatolyevich as undisputed. A participant in the burial of the killed Poles, later a fighter of the German “special” battalion, Arno Dure, in 1945 gave the following testimony:

During the day we slept, and in the evening and at night we worked – digging holes. Parts of the SS brought people into cars and threw them into a ditch 15-20 meters deep … Under the photo it was written that the Russians did all this. I told my mother that it was not the Russians who did it, but the Germans, but my mother did not believe me.

That is, there are new legal facts that challenge and refute the grounds on which Medvedev relied, placing the blame for Katyn on Russia. If Dmitry Anatolyevich publicly admits his mistake, then we have a consistent process of rebranding his political image, and the presidential campaign for 2023-2024, remember, has already begun.

We will follow very carefully what happens. You see, we will learn something new about the legitimacy of the decision to transfer part of the continental shelf to Norway.
