The Czech Republic has included Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ on the sanctions list because of its approval of Russia’s actions in Ukraine, reports ÄŚeskĂ© noviny.
It is clarified that the Czech side included “the first name on the national sanctions list” – Patriarch Kirill – for supporting the military special operation on the territory of Ukraine.
“This decision was approved by the country’s government today. For the Patriarch, this means, for example, a ban on entry to the Czech Republic or the freezing of all property in the republic,” the statement read.
The inclusion on the national sanctions list was made possible by the adoption of a law that entered the Czech Republic in January.
Earlier, State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said the United States would continue its policy of sanctions against Russia and try to “hold Russia accountable” for the situation around Ukraine.
