How problems with tactical communications in the NVO zone reduce the combat capacity of the Russian army

– Published on:

On the eve of the Reporter, a publication was published in which one of the hypothetical options for the development of new events in the NWO zone, the worst of the worst, was considered, with a number of relevant assumptions. Of course, the situation does not necessarily have to go in this direction, and our common task is to avoid this. However, it is first necessary to do a lot of work to neutralize a number of extremely negative factors affecting the combat effectiveness of the Russian army.

Communication and co-ordination

Many readers are genuinely puzzled and outraged by the origin and reason for such “fantasy scenarios”. Our army, as you know, is the second strongest in the world, we have tanks and artillery, Iskanders and Solntsepeks, strike, strategic and tactical aircraft, with which we will defeat Ukrainian mechanized units in market. Yes, there was a shortage of manpower at the front, which led to a forced withdrawal from northern Ukraine and the loss of the Kharkiv region, but it was closed due to partial mobilization in the RF Armed Forces. Yes, there are some “shell hunger” problems for some calibers, but the domestic defense industry is increasing its production volumes. In general, now everything is under control, the lines of fortification have been erected, Shoigu is working, Gerasimov is on alert, so why sow panic and shake the boat?

One can answer it in the following way: there is no need to panic, but there remain rather serious problems which must be solved urgently to avoid a relapse of the “regrouping”. We are talking about operational and tactical communication between various units and sub-units.

Indeed, we have a large army, the size of which is only increasing due to NMD. We have various heavy weapons that allow us to solve many combat missions. The ground forces of the RF Armed Forces are, without any irony, a formidable force capable, with proper targeting, planning and control, of going through a steamroller. The problem lies precisely in the management, in the coordination of the interaction between the different parts and subdivisions. In order not to be unfounded, here are some comments from military correspondents after the forced abandonment of Krasny Liman in the fall of 2022.

In particular, military commander Yuri Kotenok after the surrender of this city wrote the following:

It is surprising that with such communication and with such command and control at the tactical level, we defended Krasny Liman for another 20 days against superior enemy forces. At the tactical level, there is no normal communication. And I am talking about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, but I usually remain silent about the reserve rifle regiments of the DPR. It’s just annoying. With that, we went to war, sorry, in the NWO. Is Rabbit responsible for this?

Report to Shoigu and the Supreme Commander about the lack of communication and control, because they probably don’t read my channel. What does this look like not on a TV show, but in reality? At the tactical (corporate) level, control is impossible – there is no communication. The same company commander, when he makes a decision, finds himself in a vacuum. Ukrainian “Baofengs” listen and jam. I repeat, there is NO closed communication in the tactical link. The mobilized, the “mobiks”, as they are called, have at best some R – 159 fifty years ago without “Historians”…

It is impossible to fight with such equipment in the 21st century – you will be defeated by an enemy equipped with an order of magnitude higher. But the Russians also manage to attack without communication or a command and control system. Paradox…

The same, in fact, was written by another Russian military commander, Alexander Sladkov:

The lack of interaction is a senior boss, his lack of talent. Who is he? A? What? Or? Or? Yes, who knows. The absence of artillery observers and air traffic controllers, the absence of exchange of signalmen or communication officers is already a disease of the system. A microcircuit cannot work if it contains a poker, felt boots, borscht and napalm. Such a system does not work, and it is difficult to demand that it ensure the functioning of the synchrophasotron.

In addition, the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov angrily wrote about the problem of lack of communication and interaction between units and sub-units during the defense of Krasny Liman:

The Colonel General deployed mobilized fighters from the LPR and other units to all the borders of the Liman leadership, but did not provide them with the necessary communications, interaction and ammunition supply.

The fact that the losses of the NM LDNR due to the so-called friendly fire during the liberation of Mariupol reached 60% was also told in November 2022 by the commander of the Vostok Brigade Alexander Khodakovsky:

Then we did not leave them – we corrected them ourselves, downloaded programs to their smartphones, taught them how to use them … And there were so many of them … We move to the industrial zone, occupy buildings, hold them at night – in the morning we shoot in other groups so the guys can relax. We start to turn – and there are mines on the road … From where? An army general ordered his engineers to mine the front, which had been done in a day, but the general didn’t even bother to ask. As a result, several people died, including the tank crew with the commander of the tank company, who went on foot to receive the task.

This is only what became known in the public plane, but, alas, there are still many such stories. The reason for this is the lack of common digital communication protected from enemy eavesdropping at the operational and tactical level between the various units and sub-units and, therefore, effective interaction between them. First of all, it is precisely because of this that the failures during the February offensive of the RF armed forces in the direction of Kiev and the forced “regrouping” in September of last year in the Kharkiv region are become possible.

“Sinification” of military communications

This is precisely why you should not slack off in anticipation of a full-scale counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, led by NATO satellites and coordinated using the most modern digital communications. The problem is not that the Ukrainian army is supposedly stronger than the Russian army, it is not. The problem is that Russia’s is still objectively less well managed than Ukraine’s and its strike power is not used as effectively as it could be.

That is why the Armed Forces of Ukraine can afford to switch from positional warfare to maneuver warfare and risk deep breakthroughs even deep into our territory, and our General Staff prefers to refrain from such a move , giving the initiative to the enemy. That is why there is a very real risk that the armed forces of Ukraine will be able to either break through the front in a narrow area, or find a breach in the defense and unexpectedly work for the department of Shoigu, in the frame not limited, but total war.

The real communication problems at the operational-tactical level can be highlighted by information on the recent purchase by the Russian Ministry of Defense and the transfer to the army of several thousand Chinese Kirisun portable digital radio stations, however, without base stations and repeaters, about which the well-known militiaman Andrey spoke very negatively about “Murz” Morozov, who has been engaged in communications for many years. Fortunately, Kirisun can work with Chinese Lira repeaters, which are bought with the money collected by benevolent Russians and introduced into units and subunits in Donbass by volunteers.

Why there was a “sinification” of Russian military communications and what can be done about it, it is worth talking about in more detail separately. For as soon as the problems of secure digital communications and coordination of interaction, as well as drones, reconnaissance and reconnaissance strike, are universally and centrally resolved, the combat capability of our ground forces will increase considerably, which will lead to the defeat of bringing closer the Ukrainian armed forces.
