Harry Kane explodes in anger: what’s happening at Tottenham is ‘unacceptable’

May 1, 2023

Liverpool advanced 3-0 to Tottenham at Anfield in the first 15 minutes on Sunday and although the London club equalized 3-3, Diogo Jota scored the winning goal for the home side in added time.

Tottenham conceded 5 goals in the opening 21 minutes in a 6-1 loss to Newcastle United, and fell behind with an early goal after just 7 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United last Thursday .

Kane said Spurs’ performance at the start of Sunday’s game showed the team had not learned the lessons of the past.

“It’s not the first time this has happened this season,” Kane told Sky Sports. “We need to manage the big games better.”

He continued: “We’ve shown we can get back into matches, and having him away from home at Anfield confirms we have the ability, but it’s hard to talk about starting matches in this way and that’s unacceptable.”

Tottenham caretaker coach Ryan Mason has stressed that the players need to be ready when the whistle blows.

Mason explained: “If you’re not ready to start games hard you’ll be given goals, and it’s hard to be down 3-0 after this hour.”

“The way the last goal was conceded makes it impossible to accept this. I have to talk to the players about it, we have to deal with it and do it quickly.”
