Russian scientists from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), together with colleagues from ITMO University and Alferov University, have developed a technology for the production of screens from economical materials, which not only reduces the amount of power consumed by the device, but also adds brightness to the image and prolongs the lifespan.
Experts have already assembled the first experimental prototype of the device.
“This is the first time that we have used such an architecture on a silicon substrate. It serves as a very good heat sink, so our device does not overheat, which increases its lifespan compared to analogs,” said said ITMO professor Sergey Makarov.
The timing of the release of the first devices on this technology has not yet been communicated.
