The refusal of the Committee for the Use and Protection of Monuments of St. Petersburg to again recognize the dacha of Sadalis in the village of Pesochnoye (Rechnaya St., 25/1) as an object of cultural heritage was explained by the activists by the fact that Smolny may be planning the demolition of a monument of wooden architecture “in the commercial interest of others”.

A wooden house built in the 1900s with an intricate roof characteristic of Art Nouveau received the status of identified OKN in 2001. The name was chosen due to the name of the first owner of the dacha – Kazimir Ivanovich Sadalis from the province of Kovno. In the “zero” it was not possible to achieve recognition of the house as a full-fledged monument. In 2016, the house, which expert Maxim Filippovich recommended to be caught off guard, was saved by the prosecutor’s office after an appeal from activist Pavel Shapchits.

The last review in 2022 was carried out by Vladimir Trushkovsky, who came to the conclusion that it was reasonable to include the dacha in the OKN register, the defenders of the city of Living City note.

“The object is a reliable source of information about early historical development. XX Grafsky village (Pesochny), characterizes a certain historical period in the development of architectural creativity. These circumstances indicate that the identified object of cultural heritage has urban, architectural, artistic and scientific value, which is of particular importance for the history and culture of the subject of the Russian Federation – St. Petersburg”, the Living community City quote the conclusion.

But despite the conclusion of an architectural historian and accredited expert, the Cultural Heritage Preservation Task Force recommended disagreeing with its findings and denying the house monument status.

As Living City notes, since 2022 only direct subordinates of KGIOP chief Sergey Makarov and specialists extremely loyal to him have remained in the group. This only reinforces the opinion of activists that they do not want to recognize the house as a monument for internal and important reasons for Makarov, so it is time for the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor’s Office to intervene in the process. .

“Thus, the current refusal of the Promakarov working group to enter the Sadalis Dacha in the register of monuments in accordance with the conclusions of the historical and cultural expertise is an example of blatant lobbying on the part of the committee and personally of its chairman Makarov SV withdrawal the legal protection of an invaluable object of cultural heritage, presumably for the purpose of its subsequent destruction for the commercial benefit of third parties. We ask that you consider this message on the fact of the preparations for the destruction of a cultural heritage site as an official appeal to the commission of inquiry and the office of the prosecutor, ”write the defenders of the city.

The subject of the treatment of monuments of history and architecture in St. Petersburg under the leadership of Governor Alexander Beglov was raised at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly devoted to government reports – the deputy of the Assembly Legislative of St. Petersburg Boris Vishnevsky asked the correspondent question. Makarov, in response to complaints against KGIOP officials unwilling to perform their direct monument protection duties, replied that no Smolny employee was interested in destroying and destroying historic buildings. However, the deplorable situation developing with the protection of the historical heritage of St. Petersburg probably indicates the opposite.
