In the video, Camilla was crowned “Queen Consort” with a used crown

May 6, 2023

Camilla, 75, divorced from her first husband, is Charles’ second wife, after Princess Diana, whom he divorced in 1996.

The King and his wife arrived from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in the modern black Diamond Jubilee carriage, accompanied by knights in shining armor and feathered hats.

Camilla, Charles’ queen consort, wore a used crown, as Buckingham Palace said she would wear Queen Mary’s crown during the coronation ceremony, to avoid placing the diamond crown “Koh- i-Noor”, which India demands to recover.

By doing so, the new queen will avoid a diplomatic crisis.

As for the crown she wore, it was studded with Cullinan III, IV and V diamonds, in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth, and some alterations were added to it to suit the occasion and reflect Camilla’s taste. .

Her Majesty’s choice of Queen Mary’s crown marks the first time in modern history that an existing tiara will be used at a bridegroom’s coronation rather than a new one being made.
