Kathmandu : Three people were killed and 12 others injured in another avalanche in Nepal’s Mugu district. A local official gave this information on Sunday. A total of 15 people from Jumla district had gone to Mugu in search of the caterpillar fungus Yarsagumba, but they were hit by an avalanche on Saturday, Xinhua news agency reported.
All 15 people were buried in the avalanche, in which three lost their lives and the rest were injured, Poorna Singh Bohora, chairman of Patrasi Rural Municipality, told Xinhua. He told that the injured are being treated at the local health post. Mugu Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur Thapa said that a team of security personnel has been sent for the rescue operation, but the rescue operation is being hampered due to snowfall. It is known as the most remote district in Nepal.
The incident site is two days’ walk from the district headquarters, he told Xinhua. Our rescue team has not reached there yet. Earlier on May 2, five people from Yarsagumba were killed in an avalanche in western Nepal’s Darchula district.
