Lahore: Unidentified assailants shot dead a Sikh community man in Nawab Town, Lahore. Government media gave this information. 50-year-old Paramjit Singh Panjwar was shot dead by bike-borne miscreants. Police said the attack took place at around 6.30 am on Saturday. Panjwar was on his morning walk along with his bodyguard near his house in Sunflower Housing Society at that time. A police official said Panjwar was hit by a bullet in his head. The bodyguard was also injured in the attack and has been admitted to a local hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
The assailants fled from the spot after the attack, Dawn reported. An official said police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to collect evidence. Police have also issued a high alert to intensify patrolling and carry out snap checking to arrest suspects. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, Dawn reported. It is too early to say anything about the motive and the teams are working on all possible leads.
He refused to comment on reports that one of the shooters was also injured in the firing, Dawn reported. CCTV footage around the crime scene is being scanned to get more information.
