The story began with a traffic accident, where a bus with 60 passengers on board veered off the main road and crashed into an area where deadly African bees were farmed.
Bad luck led to a swarm of bees leaving the apiary and attacking the bus passengers who were waking up from the shock of the traffic accident and trying to get out of the bus.
Although the bus was damaged after plunging more than 50 meters into farmland, the deaths of several passengers did not occur from the accident, but from bee stings, as it was guarded in wooden hives.
Initial reports put the number of dead at 6 after the accident in Nicaragua on Monday morning.
Among the victims were a 47-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter, Andrea Carolina Garcia Torrez.
Among the dead was another 84-year-old woman.
Local sources said a 4-year-old boy remained in serious condition at Victoria Mota Hospital in Jinotega, the nearest town to the scene.
Footage showed the victims covered in dozens of red spots all over their upper bodies, from the fatal stings.
