Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has declared Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza innocent in the money laundering case. The bureau submitted a supplementary report to the court. A TV reported that Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz and others were acquitted of all charges in the case. During the hearing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s representative Anwar Hussain appeared in the court.
The case filed by NAB alleged that Shehbaz Sharif and his family members were involved in money laundering and illegal transfer of funds through fake accounts. In December 2020, the FIA ​​presented challans before the court against two PML-N leaders for their alleged involvement in laundering an amount of PKR 16 billion in a sugar scam case.
The investigation team had traced 28 benami (untitled) accounts of the Shehbaz family. Through this, there was an allegation of money laundering of PKR 16.3 billion during 2008 to 2018. Shahbaz and Hamza, along with 14 others were named in the FIR.
