Director Gleb Panfilov, 88, was hospitalized following a stroke, Baza Telegram channel reported.

It should be noted that the director has a hemorrhagic stroke. He was first taken to the intensive care unit of Odintsovo regional hospital, then doctors decided to redirect him to another hospital in Moscow, the channel added.

In mid-January, the director’s wife, People’s Artist of the USSR Inna Churikova, died. She was 79 years old. The director got married during the filming of the film “The Beginning”, popular in the USSR, in 1970. Since then, Churikova has always remained his muse.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called her work on stage and in film an inspirational model and her death a huge loss. According to the director of Lenkom, where Churikova starred, she was one of the last great actresses. During her career, Churikova received many commissions and awards.
