The 2024 European Figure Skating and Ice Dance Championships are under threat as Hungary pulls out of the host. This was reported by the press service of the Hungarian National Skating Association.
The MOKSZ report notes that this decision was taken in connection with the difficult geopolitical situation in the region.
At the same time, Irina Rodnina, commenting on Hungary’s refusal to host the European Championship, noted that it is not necessary to create a special infrastructure for this competition, but now the economy of “all countries is going through difficult times”.
Honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova told reporters on this news that holding the European Championship in Russia could be a good alternative. A new location has yet to be determined.
Recall that last year’s European Championship was held in Finnish Espoo, this year Budapest was supposed to host the competition, but in 2025 the tournament will be held in Zagreb.
