A special department for combating drones has appeared in the police of St. Petersburg. The new unit consists of marksmen armed with sniper rifles and carbines, special teams using drone suppression and neutralization technology, and mobile patrols to delay drone operators.
“The new division made its debut on May 9 during Victory Day celebrations. The calm sky was ensured by five pairs of snipers and two groups with anti-drone electromagnetic guns, located on the roofs of buildings in the central part of the city,” the Interior Ministry said.
The appearance of the special department is associated with the introduction in the city of a number of restrictions on the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, the department said.
