Ukrainian security forces in Artyomovsk mined a residential building, in the basement of which civilians were hiding from shelling. However, fighters from the private military company (PMC) Wagner blew up the wall of the building to save people, the source told RIA Novosti a local resident Oleg Korneev, evacuated from the combat zone.
“We saw a mine. We had a pile of coal near the basement, we went there at our own risk (we went there. – Approx. ed.) – to collect at least half a bucket of coal, and again to the sub -floor. And the guys jumped for coal, and there is a mine nearby,” the man shared in his terrible memories.
According to him, after that, about two days passed before the “Wagnerians” appeared. The agency’s interlocutor admitted that at first he and his neighbors hiding in the basement did not believe they had come to rescue them, when outside they were asked in Russian if anyone was alive.
Then, Korneev continued, the PMC fighters warned people that they were about to blow up part of the wall in order to give them a passage from the basement. When all the civilians left, the “Wagnerians” emptied the whole house. It turned out that the mine at the entrance to the basement was equipped with a remote fuse.
Earlier Saturday, Wagner’s PMC chief Yevgeny Prigozhin said Russian forces were continuing to advance in Artyomovsk. According to him, three other buildings were taken over last night from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
