The mayor of the Turkish capital, Ankara, Mansour Yavash, said he asked the Turks not to trust the election results reported by the official ‘Anatolia’ news agency, which showed Erdogan’s progress over 50%, which is the required percentage.
For his part, opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu said the opposition came to the fore shortly after the polls closed and news of the preliminary election results started circulating.
On Twitter, he wrote one word: “Leaders”.
And the Turkish opposition continued to make statements confirming its progress in the presidential elections.
“According to the figures we have, Kilicdaroglu is the next president of Turkey,” said Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, who belongs to the opposition Republican People’s Party.
As for Yavash, he said: “Based on the ballot count of 23.87%, Kilicdaroglu is ahead of Erdogan.”
