Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko missed the celebration of the Day of State Symbols, the ceremonies of which on the occasion take place in the country on May 14. This is reported by the Belarusian newspaper Nasha Niva.
The morning of May 14 on the site of the leader of Belarus has been published speech by the President on the occasion of the celebration. However, instead of Lukashenko, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko took part in the celebrations, the newspaper writes. The day before, according to the publication, the motorcade of the Belarusian leader “was in the special presidential hospital for two hours” near Minsk.
On May 13, Nasha Niva wrote, citing sources “close to the protocol department” of the president, that Lukashenka had contracted the flu. Moreover, the country’s leaders are spreading a version of “a virus”, which, in addition to Lukashenka himself, has “knocked down” several other people around him.
As the newspaper recalled, Lukashenko last appeared in public on May 9 during the Victory Day celebration in Moscow. Then he struggled to accompany the leaders of the CIS countries who came to the parade from the stands to the Alexander Garden, and after that he was absent from the informal breakfast of the Kremlin leaders. Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov did not link Lukashenka’s absence from breakfast with health problems, explaining that the Belarusian leader “had to leave as soon as possible” due to the events “related to Victory Day in Minsk”.
On the same day, the President of Belarus really appeared in Minsk at a flower laying ceremony at the monument in Victory Square, but did not deliver a solemn speech. Instead, it was done by the country’s defense minister, Viktor Khrenin. In photographs published by the Pul Pervogo telegram channel, Lukashenka stood next to.
Already after Victory Day, according to the Cheka-OGPU telegram channel, in Minsk for the treatment of Lukashenko several times flew “teachers” of Moscow, including the Bakulev Center. The channel’s source said that, judging by the recruitment of specialists who visited the Belarusian leader, he “had some kind of dysfunction that caused very serious diseases of the endocrine system and cardiological diseases”. The cause of this failure is “unknown”, they added in the telegram channel. According to a Cheka-OGPU source, on May 11, Lukashenka was at the Republican Clinical Medical Center, where he was awaiting the next visit from “professors from Moscow”, but whether the President of Belarus is now staying there or not, “the source does not know”, reported in the telegram channel.
