32 draft resolutions

During its 32nd session, the Arab foreign ministers submitted 32 draft resolutions to the leaders, including the most important issues of concern to the Arab street.

The Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, said that the meeting of Arab foreign ministers took place in a calm and positive atmosphere, and that consensus was the main feature of all the decisions submitted to the Arab summit.

Zaki indicated that the meeting dealt with several issues, most of which were political issues, related to the central issue, which is the question of Palestine, or the various developments of the situation in the crisis areas, or the interventions foreign affairs in Arab countries. .

He pointed out that there is a set of decisions submitted by the Economic and Social Council. He said that the decisions that will be presented at the Arab summit “are decisions that deal with Arab affairs in its various political, economic and social aspects”, expressing his hope that they will be an impetus for joint Arab action, and that they include good contributions in terms of resolving existing disputes and mitigating their impact.

Summit Agenda

At the top of the list of draft resolutions is the Palestinian question, in addition to developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as this is the broader Arab question. The Sudanese crisis is necessary, in the context of the continuous efforts of the Arabs to achieve a permanent and immediate ceasefire in Khartoum, and to affirm that the crisis is a domestic affair which does not tolerate internationalization. After a 12-year absence, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad leads his country’s delegation to the Jeddah summits, where the file of the Syrian crisis in the country for more than a decade enjoys a place among the projects of expected Arab decisions, alongside reconstruction files. Naturally, the Libyan and Yemeni crises will not be absent from the table of Arab summits. The file of the Lebanese political and economic crisis. The agenda of the Arab summit also includes strengthening coordination and cooperation among Arab countries to fight terrorism. And the exchange of information between security agencies, and the maintenance of Arab national security. On the economic level, the focus will be on the Arab food security file and on the economic and social challenges resulting from the Corona crisis and the Ukrainian crisis.

The Arab Summit is taking place in a difficult context that Arab countries are going through, including security, political, economic and health crises.

In statements to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said the Arab summit was being held in a very thorny international and regional situation, which includes complex crises at all levels. International, regional, political and economic, everything intertwines to produce situations of stress on the whole world, and on the Arab countries in particular.

He added that these crises are in addition to the Arab crises that have recently exploded, such as the Sudanese crisis, which finally took on different dimensions, painfully for the hearts of the Egyptian people and the Arab peoples.
