The Netherlands is ready to participate in the training of Ukrainian pilots for flights on American F-16 fighters, but it is too early to talk about the supply of these planes to Kiev. Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren commented to reporters on the possible involvement of the Netherlands in the next stage of military assistance to Ukraine ahead of the meeting of EU ministers in Brussels.
“We are working on a specific schedule for the start of training, and we think it is important to do it as soon as possible, we really needed a green light from Washington. This is a joint effort with Denmark, Belgium, UK and other allies,” Ollongren said citing UrduPoint.
She pointed out that the NATO allies were negotiating the supply of American fighters to Ukraine, in particular, there was discussion about the number of these planes available, but with regard to the question of the deliveries themselves, “it is not is not discussed now”.
Earlier, Yuriy Sak, an adviser to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, told The Washington Post that Kyiv expects to receive the first F-16s in early fall.
Recall that US President Joe Biden said that the Allies would start training Ukrainian pilots and supplying F-16 fighters to strengthen the Ukrainian Air Force.
