The United States uses data on strategic offensive weapons to use for manipulation purposes. This position on this issue was expressed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, whose words are published on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to the diplomat, the information disseminated earlier by Washington on American strategic offensive weapons is not true, since the figures presented there “are often fictitious or conditional”. At the same time, the Russian Federation, he noted, in the nuclear sphere demonstrates “all possible transparency within the limits determined by considerations of political and military expediency”.
“In particular, the data on US START recently released by the US State Department, as before, is misleading because of its inconsistency with the START counting rules, which Washington is doggedly trying to circumvent through unscrupulous manipulations,” said emphasized Ryabkov.
He added that today “outside the brackets” there are still more than 100 START units, which should also be covered by the treaty.
Earlier, Ryabkov slammed the United States for threatening to allow Kyiv to strike in Crimea. The diplomat accused Washington of irresponsibility.
