– Published on:

The “2023 China Forum for the Development of Tibet” opened in Beijing on May 23, with the theme “New era, new Tibet, new journey: a new chapter in Tibet’s high-quality development and human rights protection”. Nepali Ambassador to China Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, delivering a speech, said that Tibet’s modernization process has embarked on the path of high-quality development, following the harmonious balance of nature and culture. He said that the historical ties between Nepal and Tibet can be traced back to the marriage between Princess Bhrikuti of Nepal and King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet. In ancient times, Tibet was an important trade center between Nepal and China. Nepal and China established diplomatic relations in 1955, further developing the ancient ties between the two countries. Ambassador Shrestha said that Tibet’s successful practice in poverty alleviation has set a good example for Nepal. At the same time, China’s success in the areas of talent acquisition, use of modern agricultural technology, rural development planning, etc. will have a far-reaching impact on Nepal. He also said that the border area between Nepal and Tibet Autonomous Region is close. All the three commercial ports of Changmu, Cheelong and Phulan have been made operational. The bond between the people of Nepal and Tibet has been further strengthened. With various mechanisms currently being implemented, including trade facilitation, tourism promotion and optimization of customs operation procedures, Nepal looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China in more bilateral areas.(Credits- China Media Group, Beijing)
