Deputies of the Kiev City Council want to deprive the former general secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Brezhnev of the title of “honorary citizen of Kiev”. Leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov called the idea provocative and insulting, the kp.ru website reports.
According to him, the deputies of Kyiv thus act as “open accomplices of the Nazis”.
“Leonid Ilyich was born in Ukraine, lived a good life – he fought in the Great Patriotic War against Malaya Zemlya, went all the heroic way with the Red Army, worked. I ruled the country,” Zyuganov said.
According to the leader of the Communist Party, Brezhnev and the Soviet people largely created what fed Ukraine.
“Therefore, what the deputies of Kyiv are doing is a retaliation against history, especially on the biography of an exceptional person. It – this massacre – is blasphemous and provocative, but there is nothing new in it,” he stressed.
