  • We have the raw materials to locate the quartz industry, and we will give the private sector the opportunity to invest in the project.

  • We aim to develop and maximize the resources and projects of the General Authority of Mineral Resources.

Details of the quartz production complex

  • Quartz production plant complex is located in Ain Sukhna, Suez Governorate, Egypt.
  • The project consists of one mine and 5 factories, the mine is in the area of Marwa Al-Suwaiqat factory in the city of Marsa Alam, and the estimated volume of reserves is 3.5 million tons.

  • The first plant is for primary crushing in the mine area, with a production capacity of 140,000 tons per year.

  • The other manufacturing stages are completed by 4 factories in Ain Sokhna, built on an area of 300,000 square meters, including the main crushing plant, in which the ore is broken into smaller granules with the implementation of optical and magnetic separation processes.

  • The project includes two plants for the production of ultra-fine granules with a capacity of 140 thousand tons per year.

  • Quartz slab production plant with a capacity of 438 thousand meters per year.

  • The use of clean energy sources in the construction of the project and the establishment of a water desalination plant, in addition to the industrial wastewater recycling plant to reduce water losses .

  • The project has contributed to providing 2,600 direct and indirect employment opportunities, with the help of foreign experts.

Unique uses

*Quartz is the second most abundant mineral found on the Earth’s surface, accounting for 98% of every geological environment.

  • It comes in many colors and shapes, and is characterized by being colorless or white, and characterized by its vitreous luster and hardness.
  • It is characterized by its extreme resistance to mechanical and chemical weathering, making it the most popular metal on mountain tops and the main ingredient of beaches, rivers and desert sands.

It is involved in a wide range of industries and sectors, in addition to the jewelry and gemstone industry, the glass industry, the watch industry, the refractory materials industries, the surface industry kitchenware, ceramics industry, electronics industry, railways and mining industries.

Great economic return

For his part, Wafaa Ali, professor of economics and expert in energy markets, estimated, in statements exclusive to “Sky News Arabia”, that the opening of the quartz complex in Ain Sukhna is an integrated model for the production process.

Ali said that the mining sector is receiving great attention from the Egyptian state and that the opening of this complex, the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, will displace this mineral after years of being forgotten and neglected.

And she pointed out that this project achieves a significant economic return, considering the use of quartz ore in many industries, including sensors, hydraulic fracturing and electronics, in addition to providing job opportunities. direct and indirect, and to provide an investment opportunity for Egyptians and foreigners, reduce imports, save foreign currency and improve the trade balance. .
