The conclusion of peace in the Ukrainian conflict zone should not lead to its freezing. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told the Cologne newspaper Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger how he envisages a way out of the crisis, reports 360.
“Russia must understand that there can be no question of making a kind of cold peace”, underlined the Chancellor.
Scholz considers it unacceptable to legitimize a new border between Russia and Ukraine in a peace treaty and that it is unacceptable to draw it along the existing front line, as this would mean the legalization of territorial acquisitions from Moscow.
Among the conditions for a “just peace”, Scholz named the withdrawal of Russian troops, but stressed that, above all, Ukraine itself should propose the terms of a peace treaty.
Earlier, the Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Ukrainian crisis must be resolved, its freezing is out of the question and is not beneficial for Russia, as well as for the whole world. On this issue, Russia stands in solidarity with the German and British leaders, because the conclusion of a peace treaty on Ukraine does not mean a freeze on the conflict.
