Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Congolese (Kinshasa) President Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who is on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in the afternoon of May 26. The leaders of the two countries announced to upgrade the bilateral cooperation and win-win strategic partnership relationship to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership relationship. In addition, the two leaders held in-depth discussions on China-Africa relations and international and regional issues of common interest, and reached broad consensus. Chinese Premier Li Chang and NPC Standing Committee Chairman Chao Lochi respectively called on Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
The leaders of the two countries said that since 1972, China and Congo (Kinshasa) have normalized diplomatic relations. The 51-year-old friendship between the two has benefited the people of both the countries. The China-Congo (Kinshasa) friendship is the common asset of both sides. Along with strengthening it, it should be protected. In order to strengthen mutual political trust and deepen and expand practical cooperation in various fields, the leaders of the two countries announced the upgrading of the two countries’ relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership relationship. President Tshisekedi Tshilombo congratulated the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the NPC and CPPCC for the successful holding.
