The Public Security Directorate said a report had been received by the Zarqa Police and Civil Defense Operations Room stating that a 13-year-old child had disappeared in the Al-Sukhna area in the governorate of Zarqa, where specialized teams have started combing the area, and civil defense divers have started combing and inspection operations in the stream and the ponds formed by the rainwater.

Jordanians shared terrifying scenes of torrential rains in the area, which showed large cars washed away by “water tanks” and calls to save the child.

In the same context, Jordanians have documented, through video clips, the extent of damage caused by large hailstones to their vehicles, such as glass breakage and other damage to vehicle bodies.

Video clips also showed crowds at glass repair and replacement shops and plumbers’ vehicle repair shops due to damage to their vehicles.

For his part, the boss of the Jordanian General Union of Mechanical Professions, Jamil Abu Rahma, revealed an unprecedented crowd in auto glass shops and “body sitting” shops, after the cold storm that hit the capital, Amman, and several parts of the Kingdom on Monday morning.

The vehicles were damaged by breaking the front or rear windows, in addition to the bodies of the vehicles affected by the force of the cold and the large size of its grains, which prompted many people to repair them.

Abu Rahma said vehicle glass prices start at 40 dinars, and their prices vary by item and source, indicating that prices are within their usual levels.

The reason for the large size of hailstones

The acting director of the Jordanian Meteorological Department, Abdel Moneim Al-Qarala, explained that the thermal differences in the upper and surface layers of the atmosphere, the humidity and the state of increased instability are at the origin of the ” large cold showers” ​​which the Kingdom witnessed, which led to the windows of some vehicles shattering on the streets of Amman, warning of the possibility of a repeat of this situation today.

The warnings continue

Al-Qarala explained that the torrential rain warnings are still continuing today, in different parts of the Kingdom, especially the southern and eastern regions, where heavy rains are expected in different parts of the Kingdom, causing the formation of torrents in the valleys and lowlands. thunderstorms and hail showers, in addition to active southeast to southwest winds, sometimes with strong gusts, kicking up dust in desert areas that have not seen precipitation.

He called on citizens to stay away from torrential rains and not risk cutting torrential sewers and places where rain accumulates with vehicles in order to preserve their lives and property, in addition to protecting themselves. hail, which can be severe in some areas, especially the southern and eastern parts of the Kingdom.

For its part, the Directorate of Public Security has renewed its warnings not to approach torrents and torrential valleys and not to cross them, whether on foot or by vehicle.

According to the Jordanian Meteorological Service, the effect of the unstable air condition is gradually fading this evening, the amount of clouds is decreasing, the wind speed is weakening and pleasant weather prevails in most areas. , and moderate weather prevails in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba, with opportunity remaining ripe in parts of the eastern and southeastern regions of the Kingdom. Due to the fall of sporadic rain showers, it can sometimes be accompanied by thunder, and the winds will be from the northwest, of moderate speed, sometimes active in the east of the Kingdom.

30 million cubic meters entered the dams

In the same context, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Jordan Valley Authority said that rainfall in the past 24 hours supplied the dams with about 30 million cubic meters, bringing the total storage in the dams to 132,885. million cubic meters of their total. storage capacity of 280,759 million cubic meters, with a storage rate of 47.33%.
