The decision of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid was definitely given by the Supreme Court in November 2019, but if the Allahabad High Court had not given its decision on 30 December 2010, then definitely the final decision of the Supreme Court would not have been possible. The three judges of the Allahabad High Court, SU Khan, Sudhir Agarwal and Dharamveer Sharma, who pronounced the verdict, were under immense pressure that if they did not give the verdict, the Supreme Court would also not give a final verdict on the matter. One of the three judges, Sudhir Agarwal, who retired in 2020, has revealed that he was under pressure from both outside and inside the house that if he postponed the decision from the High Court, then it would be for the next 200 years. The decision of the dispute will not be able to come.

Sudhir Aggarwal’s statement that his family members and relatives were pressurizing him to postpone the judgment so that he does not get embroiled in any controversy. Meaning that they were being advised that there is no need to pass the time. In fact, when the District Judge of Ayodhya Vrishnamohan Pandey ordered to open the lock, many politicians turned against him and that is why the then Chief Minister Mulayam Singh, Law and Justice Minister of Chandrashekhar Government, Dr. Subramaniam Swamy, when he decided to make him a judge of the High Court. But when asked for opinion, he wrote in the comment that Pandey ji is a very good man, but he did a very wrong thing by giving the decision to open the lock of Ram Janmabhoomi.

Senior Supreme Court lawyer Kapil Sibal had also argued before the 2019 elections that if the Ayodhya case is decided before the general elections, the BJP would be benefited, so it is better if the decision is taken only after the elections. This is the reason why the decision could not come in November 2018 and when the general elections were held in May 2019, the historic decision could come seven months later i.e. in November 2019.

However, there were many hurdles in the decision of the Ayodhya case, but all is well that ends well. Sudhir Aggarwal’s disclosure made it clear that while some people were in favor of settling the Ayodhya issue, many people were also trying to stall it. (sp)
