Al-Sisi and Al-Ghazzawi agreed during their talks at the Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo to develop cooperation in the economic, investment and trade fields, as well as to accelerate preparations for the holding of the next session of the joint Egyptian-Mauritanian University. Committee.
The two presidents held a press conference to reveal the details of the joint talks, where the Egyptian president said the talks showed consensus on the importance of advancing the mechanisms for joint Arab action, adding:
The talks covered various bilateral, regional and international issues and reflected our political will to strengthen and advance relations between the two countries in various fields. We agreed to develop cooperation in the areas of economy, investment and trade. Are rapidly preparing to hold the next session of the Egyptian-Mauritanian Joint Higher Committee to deepen the bilateral partnership between the two countries. We discussed the evolution of the Palestinian cause and agreed on the need to organize presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya alongside the departure of all foreign forces. We stressed the importance of an immediate and lasting ceasefire and the preservation of Sudanese national institutions. We discussed the Ethiopian case of the “Renaissance Dam” and its dangerous consequences for the water security of countries downstream of the Nile basin.
For his part, Al-Ghazwani considered that Egypt has a special place in the consciousness of the Mauritanian people, in addition to the leading role played by Cairo in major issues.
The Mauritanian president confirmed that his talks in Cairo focused on the situation in Libya and Sudan, as well as on the waters of the Nile, praising what he described as “Egypt’s patience” in the face of the crisis of the Ethiopian dams.

The emphasis is on the economic file, and this is a major file of interest for Egypt, in the context of the emphasis placed on increasing inter-investment and commercial exchanges between the two countries, and benefit from the Egyptian development experience in Mauritania. The two presidents agreed to convene the joint senior committee at the level of the two foreign ministers next July, during which a number of cooperation agreements in various fields will be signed, and there is coordination at the highest level in this regard. Military and security coordination between the two countries was at the center of the visit, especially with the discussion on the fight against terrorism in the Sahel and Sahara region, and this is an important subject for Mauritania and Egypt.
