Forced docking at Magadan for passengers from Delhi became a sudden and exotic point on the itinerary. In an emergency news broadcast on the Indian Mirror Now, one of the passengers on the ill-fated flight shared his impressions of an unscheduled layover. The plane flew to San Francisco, but due to a malfunction landed in Magadan.
“There is no clarity from the airline. There is no crew member here, no airline representative, no one from the embassy who could help us. But I want to emphasize that the local Russian authorities are doing everything possible, even though this place is quite small. And I think there is no necessary infrastructure here,” said a passenger on a flight from India.
The air temperature in Magadan is almost the same as in San Francisco, otherwise it is a stark contrast. On board were more than 230 citizens of India, the United States and Canada. The enormous Boeing 777 represents a quarter of the capacity of the local airport. The resettlement operation was launched in emergency mode. Russian hospitality, though modest, was much appreciated by foreign guests.
“The food is very good. Breakfast was scrambled eggs. Then rice soup, chicken. They even made sleepy yam soup here. Yes, especially the tea. shared her impression of an Indian.
Lack of visas and customs clearance prevented occasional guests from seeing the beauties of Magadan.
“We really liked the people here. They help, they are very friendly,” said Surap Mirapoli, a passenger on a flight from India.
The head of the Magadan region noted: the situation once again reminded that the capital of the region needs the construction of a new hotel.
“The construction of a 4-star hotel with a view of Nagaev Bay is essential. And for the development of tourism, and for the tourists who increasingly visit our territory. But even in such cases, when it is necessary to accommodate passengers of an international flight in sufficiently comfortable conditions,” said Sergey Nosov, governor of the Magadan region.
The breakdown of the plane, according to the conclusion of experts, is not subject to quick elimination. A new table has been sent for passengers. The Magadan-San Francisco flight is scheduled for the next day.
