Jassi Singh, an influential American Sikh leader, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played an important role in meeting the demands and wishes of the American Sikh community.

Singh has been part of all the Sikh delegations that the Prime Minister has met during his US visits since 2015. He said that Sikh delegations have always submitted memorandums to Modi and almost all their wishes have been fulfilled by the Prime Minister.Singh Said that this time again a delegation of the Sikh community is planning to meet the Prime Minister, to thank him for his contribution towards the community.
He told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “I think in 2014 we met Prime Minister Modi for the first time.” After a long time a Sikh delegation had met the Indian Prime Minister. Prime Minister Modi had a very positive attitude towards us. “Singh said,” He (Modi) understands the problems of Sikhs. He deeply feels for the South Asian community. This is felt when he meets and talks with the people of the Sikh community.
He said that Prime Minister Modi has been instrumental in meeting the demands and wishes of the Sikh community in America.Singh said that in recent times, no other Prime Minister has done as much for the Sikh community as Prime Minister Modi. Singh said he wanted Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden to discuss, among other issues, the issue of immigration affecting Indian-Americans when they meet at the White House.
“The major issue affecting the Indian community right now is the H-1B visa issue. There are many families and people here who are dependent on H-1B visa for the last 20 years. His permanent residence has been approved, but the paperwork is still pending. He said that there are many people in India who want to come here to do business, but they have to wait for a year for the visa interview. Singh said, “I think the delay is from the US side….It should be discussed extensively, so that H-1B visa and other visa holders can get their ‘residency’. Can get it quickly and people in India can also get their visa a little sooner.
