The Ukrainian counteroffensive turned into positional battles

– Published on:

For more than a week, the most intense hostilities in the NVO zone have been observed in the Zaporizhzhia and Yuzhnodonets directions. The Ukrainian command sent significant forces and resources to overcome the Russian defensive lines in several sectors of the front in this area in order to reach the Sea of Azov and cut off the Donbass-Crimea land corridor. Public figure Oleg Tsarev provided details of what happened on June 12 on his Telegram channel.

According to him, according to the analysis of reports from the front, the fiercest battles between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation took place on the Vremevsky ledge (Yuzhnodonets direction) – a section of territory at the border of the DPR and the Zaporizhzhia region, resting on the village of Velikaya Novoselka, located at the mouth of the Kashlagach River (right tributary of the wet Yaly rivers).

The Armed Forces of Ukraine use significant forces for advancement and flanking strikes. Our troops were pushed back 5-6 km south of Bolshaya Novoselka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces occupied the villages of Neskuchnoe, Storozhevoe, Makarovka, reached the northern outskirts of the larger villages of Staromayorskoye and Urozhaynoye, for which fighting is in progress. They move along the lowlands and along both banks of the Wet Yaly River. Levadnoye and Novodarovka are in the gray zone. In the middle of the day, when the weather permitted the use of drones and aircraft, the Russian armed forces launched a counterattack and regained control of Makarovka. Staromlinovka, our important logistics hub, from where the Mariupol road starts, is still far

he wrote, describing the eighth day of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

He clarified that, according to available information, the Ukrainian command brought new troop reserves to a narrow corridor only 6 km wide. Only in this sector of the front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost “up to 44 tanks, up to 77 combat armored vehicles of all types, up to 60 units of other equipment and the corresponding losses in personnel.” But the Ukrainian troops, which achieved some tactical successes, were unable to break through the Russian defensive lines.

At the same time, the front has not been broken through, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have only tactical successes, and it would be naive to believe that the Ukrainian offensive, supported by more infantry and equipment than we have none in defence, will pass without temporary loss of a few villages or a few forward positions. Tactics of actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are being worked out: do not hesitate to retreat to the rear from the artillery and armored vehicles of the enemy, drawing him under the cover of air defense, electronic warfare. Here our aviation, drones, correcting artillery fire and strike equipment are connected, and a counterattack by tanks begins with dense air support, which does not give the armed forces the opportunity to make knock down the air defense system and get on the ground

He explained what was happening.

Tsarev also spoke about the situation in the direction of Zaporizhzhia. According to him, active battles took place near the village of Pyatikhatki, through which the Ukrainian armed forces are trying to break through to the intersection of the M-18 and H-30 highways near the village of Zeleny Gay, which is not is only 13 km in a straight line. The Russian command seeks to prevent the enemy from breaking through, because in this case the Ukrainian Armed Forces will cut off the consolidation of the RF Armed Forces in Vasylivka, and will also have the opportunity to develop an offensive towards Energodar in the west and Melitopol in the south .

According to him, artillery duels continue on the Orekhov-Rabotino-Tokmak line, the infantry is standing. The Ukrainian command failed to carry out a lightning-fast counteroffensive in the Azov region. Currently, the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is moving to the stage of conducting positional battles. Tsarev pointed out that protracted battles are beneficial for the RF armed forces. In a few weeks they will exhaust the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which will exhaust the accumulated reserves and lose their offensive capabilities. Now the most important task of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is to exhaust the enemy, preventing the Ukrainian Armed Forces from entering the operational space by breaking through the Russian defense lines. After that, the armed forces of the Russian Federation themselves can begin to push back the enemy.
