Yoga is the ancient science of India. There is also philosophy. Its acceptance is international. June 21 is International Yoga Day. The preparations for this great festival are gaiety. Yoga Day is going to be organized in all regions and states of India. The credit goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving international recognition to India’s yoga science. Due to the efforts of Modi, 177 countries favored yoga. Yoga is everywhere in the life of the Indian nation. Meeting someone without effort is a coincidence. Separation is disconnection. The knowledge of making a helper is useful. To accuse is to accuse. Industry is the production of goods. Wrong use of power is abuse. The competitive use of power is competition. The word competition is derived from this. Making knowledge a tool for spiritual practice is Gyan Yoga. The path of Bhakti is Bhakti Yoga. Karma primacy is Karma Yoga. Recognizing the world as illusion and Brahma as real is Sannyasa Yoga. The compatibility of house positions in astrology is coincidental. In mathematics, the addition of numbers is also a sum. Yoga is the science of integration. There is a vision of self-realization. This is not superstition.

Yoga is the science of gaining power from existence. Its seed formula is in Rigveda. It is in the Upanishads. It is detailed in the Gita. There is a mention of all compound actions in the Buddha cult. Marshall wrote the book ‘Mohanjodaro and the Indus Civilization’ on the Harappan civilization. In this book, Shiva has been described as a deity different from the Arya deities. It is written about yoga in the book, ‘Like Shaivism, yoga also originated in the pre-Aryan population. Before the era of poetry, it had no important role in the religion of the Aryans. Marshall’s interpretation is not correct. They considered the Indus civilization to be older than the Vedic civilization. According to him, yoga developed during the Indus civilization. The Vedic ancestors came to know about it much later. This fact is not relevant. The Vedic ancestors were familiar with yoga.

Yoga is the science of ending the restlessness of the mind. The awakening of the intellect through yoga was also there in the Vedic period. This awakening is not normal. It is said in Rigveda (5.44.14), ‘ Those who are awake. Richa wishes him. The fickleness of the mind is the nature of man. Steady wisdom is the attainment of yoga. In the Rigveda it is said to Indra, ‘May your mind be towards us. (8.45.6) The Vedic god Indra was an expert in yoga. It is said in praise of Indra, ‘You fixed your mind as soon as you were born.’ The joy of creation also comes from yoga. In the Rigveda (9.68.5) it is said, ‘Bliss comes from a trained mind. Marshall’s half statement that the Harappans were familiar with yoga is correct. Marshall’s statement that there was no yoga practice in the Rigvedic period is wrong. Marshall’s statement that the Aryans were unfamiliar with yoga was also wrong. Hiranyagarbha is mentioned in Rigveda. He is considered the first spokesperson of Yoga. The work of making yoga a systematic science was done by Patanjali in the second century before Christ. It is believed that he was the advisor of Pushyamitra Sunga. Patanjali wrote Mahabhashya on Panini’s grammar. He has written the great book called ‘Yogasutra’.

The root cause of suffering in Indian philosophy is ignorance. Worldly pleasures do not give happiness. Patanjali has considered the attitudes of the mind to be the cause of happiness and sorrow. Sigmund Freud was a famous psychologist. He has done a funny analysis of the mind. He has told three types of mind. First crazy mind. Second deranged mind and third foolish mind. But Patanjali described five states of mind including mudha, ksipta, neurotic, concentrated and niruddha. The goal of yoga was to end these mental instincts – Yogascha Chitta Vritti Nirodhah (Yogasutra 2). Man’s mind is not matter or matter. Had there been matter, science would have caught it. The mind is the subtlest invisible part of the human body. Mind and body are mixed. If the mind is bad, the body suffers. If there is an injury in the body, the mind becomes sad. Insult is experienced on the mind. The heat is on the body. There are indications of yoga even in the Bible. In the Bible (Matthew 5.3) it is said, ‘Blessed are the poor in heart. His is the kingdom of heaven.’ A concentrated mind is the source of bliss.

Mind is important. In the Shiva Sankalp Sutras of Yajurveda, there is praise of filling the mind with Shiva. There are 6 mantras in it. It is said, ‘Our mind goes up to the river mountain sky. We call him back.’ At the end of all the 6 mantras ‘Tanme Manah Shiva Sankalpam Astu’ is attached. Concentration comes from the cessation of mental states. Concentration is achieved through the practice of yoga. Along with the mind, the body is also stable in itself. To be stable in oneself is to be healthy. Patanjali’s sutras are brief. Somewhere there is a sentence of only one word. They lead to self-realization through asanas, pranayama and meditation. Asana and Pranayama are simple words. Meditation and samadhi are difficult. Meditation is concentration. According to Patanjali, the center of meditation is only a tool. The Yoga Sutras have options for meditation on the lovely subject. In Yogasutra (Samadhipad 39) it is said, ‘Yathabhimatdhyana dva – meditate on that center as you wish. Then it is said or meditate on God – Ishvara pranidhana dva (ibid 23). Meditation on God is an option in Patanjali’s sutras. The God of Patanjali is not an ordinary God. He also gives the definition of Ishvara, ‘Consciousness unattached to suffering, action, fruit of action and lust is the special Ishvara (ibid 24). It is further said, ‘He is the Guru of Gurus because of being beyond time.’ There is no time in Yoga Siddhi. According to this definition one can become like God through yoga.

Yoga is an ocean of bliss. A Yog Siddha healthy person cannot be violent. Creations spring from his mind. Continuous practice of Yoga Siddhi is necessary. The benefits of yoga come from non-attachment to attainment. Patanjali himself has said that ‘whose efforts are mild or moderate. They get the benefits of yoga in the same quantity and time. Those whose efforts are intense get the fruit of yoga immediately. Patanjali has used the word Ritambhara for Yoga Siddha intelligence – Ritambhara Tatra Prajna. The word Ritan appears for the first time in Rigveda. It means the constitution of existence. Ritambhara is not of ordinary intelligence. Human beings have one intelligence. The whole universe has one intelligence. Ritambhara is the intelligence of the entire universe. Then there is the discussion of samadhi. And finally of Kaivalya. Yoga philosophy opens the door to truth. Yoga also cures many diseases. But such remedies are accomplished only in the primary stage of yoga. The real thing is Kaivalya or Nirbeej Samadhi. Then the Yogi remains selfless and selfless in all the stages of living, walking, getting up and sitting in the world. Yoga science is a prestigious part of Indian philosophy.
