Why do people love figure skating? For smoothness and beauty of movement, for drama and joy, for successes and failures. Also, costumes. Of course, in such outfits, in which skaters play on the ice, you will not go out into the light. But they are part of the inimitable image of the athlete, his story, although short, lasts only three minutes. Each dress is an association with a performance. We have collected for you some of the most beautiful and spectacular outfits of Russian figure skaters of recent years.

This dress was specially designed for the program of the figure skater, which she performed on the music for the film “Schindler’s List” at the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. The performance was appreciated by Steven Spielberg himself and thanked Lipnitskaya for the embodiment of the heroine of the film in a red coat. Julia’s outfit is therefore a direct reference to the film. The idea for such a field belongs to the skater herself, her mother and her coach Eteri Tutberidze.

Like the film, the dress has become iconic. He was included in the list of the most memorable in figure skating.

During the Barcelona Grand Prix Final, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva appeared in the form of an oriental queen. The 2014/2015 season was an experiment for the skater in terms of outfits – she stood out from the rest with her eccentricity. A blue suit with expensive trimmings and slightly translucent sleeves and elements emphasized the oriental image of Tuktamysheva.

Alina Zagitova’s red tutu (free program, 2018 Olympics)

Costumes before the 2018 Olympics were often found in Zagitova’s images. The skater wore the very first such dress for another student of Eteri Tutberidze, Evgenia Medvedeva.

Alina performed the free program “Don Quixote” for two seasons, and she won the gold of the Olympics. Admittedly, a new costume was made for the Games: a bright red tutu trimmed in gold, complete with long matching gloves. The new version of the tutu was designed to add theatricality to the image of the figure skater.

The choice of the figure skater’s outfit for this program was expected: in what, if not in a kimono, to interpret a number on the music of Memoirs of a Geisha. The dress was sewn by Japanese master Satomi Ito, who worked with leading figure skaters in the Land of the Rising Sun.

The performance dress is made in the image of a real kimono. It is dark in color, with elements of white and blue, embroidered with sakura flowers, which are made of sequins and glass beads.

Kamila Valieva’s lilac dress (short program, 2022 Olympics)

In it, the Russian figure skater shone at the Beijing Olympics in 2022. Then, in Camila’s life, there was no doping scandal yet, she was airy and light – like her beautiful dress lilac, similar to butterfly wings. This program has become one of the best in Valieva, the figure skater herself has repeatedly noted that she likes it the most. And the dress is part of that sweet image.

Anna Shcherbakova’s burgundy dress (free program, 2022 Olympics)

In the free program of the Beijing Olympics, Anna Shcherbakova embodied Bulgakov’s Margarita. She is just that: mysterious, in a dark burgundy dress. It was definitely a golden offer. Blue and burgundy dress with white petticoat, black rhinestone lace inserts and laced open back. All this, combined with the tenderness of Anna Shcherbakova and her soulful skating, brought the figure skater the gold of the Olympics.
