Zimbabwe beat West Indies by 35 runs

New Delhi. In the 13th match of the World Cup qualifiers 2023, the Zimbabwe cricket team defeated the West Indies cricket team by 35 runs on Saturday. This is the third consecutive win of the Zimbabwe team in three matches. On the other hand, this is West Indies’ first defeat in three matches. Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl’s brilliant half-centuries contributed to Zimbabwe’s victory, helping the team reach a respectable score.

Batting first after losing the toss, Zimbabwe team scored 268 runs losing all 10 wickets in 49.5 overs. Raza (68) scored the most runs from the team. Chasing a target of 269 runs, the West Indies team could manage only 233 runs losing all 10 wickets in 44.4 overs and lost the match. Kyle Mayers top-scored for West Indies with 56 runs. Brilliant bowling by all the bowlers from Zimbabwe.

Openers Brendan King and Meyers added 43 for the first wicket. However, the team seemed to disintegrate as soon as the pair broke up. Johnson Charles (1), Captain Shai Hope (30), Nicholas Pooran (34) and Rovman Powell (1) could not show anything special and were dismissed early. The biggest partnership came between Mayers and Hope for the third wicket. Together they added 64 runs in 67 balls.

Opener Meyers scored the second half-century of his ODI career while playing a brilliant innings. He scored 56 runs in 72 balls while batting at a strike rate of 77.78. During this, 8 fours and 1 six also came out of his bat.

Zimbabwe’s star all-rounder Raza scored the 21st half-century of his ODI career in this match. He scored 68 runs in 58 balls while batting at a strike rate of 117.24. During this, he also hit 6 fours and 2 sixes. Raza had a strong all-round performance against the Netherlands in the last match.

Burl played a big role in helping the team reach a respectable score by playing a sensible inning in this important match. He scored the 5th half-century of his ODI career. He scored 50 runs in 57 balls while batting at a strike rate of 87.72. His innings also included 5 fours and 1 six. Burl played an important partnership of 87 runs in 94 balls with Raza for the 5th wicket in this match.
