The Attorney General’s Office has been asked to open a criminal investigation for treason against Leah Akhedzhakova and recognize her as a foreign agent
Vitaly Borodin, head of the “Federal Project for Security and Anti-Corruption”, who previously repeatedly addressed law enforcement agencies with statements against public figures, wrote a statement to the Attorney General’s Office about the popular artist Liya Akhedzhakova. In his appeal to the Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, the applicant requests the recognition of the actress as a foreign agent, as well as the opening of three criminal proceedings against her.
Borodin writes that he suspects Akhedzhakova of treason (275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), “public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the armed forces of the Russian Federation” (Borodin mentions 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “repeated discredit” or “discredit causing serious consequences”) and extremism – “incitement to hatred or enmity” (282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The applicant also asks the prosecution, recognizing Akhedzhakova as a foreign agent, to deprive her of awards and honorary titles. Borodin, in her letter, claims that the actress, while living in Russia, gives interviews to “Ukrainian television channels”, expresses her support for Ukraine, and allegedly sponsors the Armed Forces of Ukraine and encourages followers to do the same on social media. It should be noted that earlier Akhedzhakova denied information about the alleged transfer of funds to an army. The 84-year-old artist said she didn’t know how to make such money transfers.
