From July 3 to 12, the sixth armored race “Road of Courage” will take place on the territory of Russia. Among the participating cities will be the Novgorod region, the column will pass through Valdai and Veliky Novgorod.
Restored equipment used by the USSR Army will participate in the race. Among them will be armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicles (BRDM-1 and BRDM-2), light armored personnel carriers BTR-40, as well as military vehicles GAZ-24, GAZ-69, UAZ-469 , ZIS-110, ZIL-157 and GAZ-63.
In total, the equipment will travel about 1,900 kilometers along the Moscow – Tver – Valdai – Veliky Novgorod – Lodeynoye Pole – Petrozavodsk – Sortavala – St. Petersburg – Valdai – Moscow route.
The movement will start on July 3 in Moscow. The starting point will be the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill.
Events are planned at each of the stopping points – visiting places of military glory, laying flowers at military memorials and lectures on the history of the creation of armored vehicles for local residents. This was reported in the publication “Novgorodskiye Vedomosti”.
In 2023, the Road of Courage armored race is organized in memory of the Karelian Front of the Great Patriotic War.
