On May 6-7, representatives of the Severodvinsk administration plan to congratulate veterans at home who, for health reasons, will not be able to attend the city holiday on May 9. There will not only be official congratulations, gifts and flowers, but also small home concerts, so that together with the artists, veterans will remember songs from the war years and sing “Victory Day”.
On May 5, a solemn event for veterans will be held at the Drama Theater, and before it begins, weather permitting, a concert-parade of the White Sea Naval Base Marching Band will be held on the site in front of the theatre. On May 8, according to tradition, a flower laying ceremony will take place at the memorial sites in Severodvinsk and the village of Nyonoksa.
On May 9, the festive demonstrations will be opened by a procession of workers, students and schoolchildren on the island of Yagry. Then a concert will be held on Prosyankin Square.
On Victory Square in front of the stands with veterans, families of NWO participants, columns of labor collectives, retro military equipment will pass, a large-scale choreographic composition will unfold, fighting veterans, as well as young students of military-patriotic clubs, will parade in parade formation. Then there will be concerts, the main one being on Place de la Victoire. “Brigades from the front” will perform in residential areas of Severodvinsk, including on the island of Yagry. The “Soldier’s Porridge” action will take place in four locations.
We add that 454 veterans of the Great Patriotic War live in Severodvinsk, of which 357 are home front workers, 24 participants in the hostilities of the Great Patriotic War, 41 have the status of “inhabitant of besieged Leningrad” and 32 – “minor prisoner of the fascist camps.”
