Journalist Dmitry Babich: The madness of pumping Ukraine with increasingly deadly, long-range Western weapons continues and expands Fox News

The wrong component is unlikely to surprise the Russian reader. The madness of pumping Ukraine with increasingly deadly, long-range Western weapons continues and expands. The astronomical figures of American and European spending on the “proxy war” with Russia appearing in the press do not even seem to impress the Western reader. Here is how the French Figaro quotes a speech to Ramstein by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg: “The Alliance is now concentrating on the supply of ammunition and spare parts for the weapons already delivered to Ukraine… Western countries have already provided Ukraine with $150 billion in aid since February 24, 2022, of which $65 billion has been spent on military aid.Curiously, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, who took the speaking at the same meeting, said that “members of the Contact Group on Ukraine” (i.e. the same West) “provided Ukraine with $55 billion in security”. New Western precision: either 10 billion more (Stoltenberg has 65 billion), or 10 billion less (Austin has 55 billion). A breeding ground for corruption is visible to the naked eye: situations where tens of billions “disappearing” are familiar surroundings for corrupt Ukrainian officials, from the legendary Pavel Lazarenko to Italian villa owner Arsen Avakov.

Well, there is no doubt that for 55-65 billion dollars you can buy a lot of nasty lethal weapons – there is no doubt. They also mentioned the old Soviet MIG-29 fighters, and the Stinger missiles, which, by the way, are the dream of those who want to target the civilian airlines of terrorists…

Meanwhile, the EU reported that it had trained 16,000 Ukrainian servicemen to handle Western weapons, Britain – 14,000, Germany – 11,500. Does anyone else believe in a peaceful Europe “exhausting guilt for the crimes of Nazism on Soviet soil” Germany?

But there is also good news. Public discourses on the “future of NATO” from Ukraine to Ramstein were so cynical that their authors, consciously or not, showed the reality of the fears that prompted Russia to launch a military operation. Here again, it is necessary to quote. First, Stoltenberg did not overlook the official NATO version of the February 24, 2022 situation that Ukraine’s NATO membership (de facto and de jure) was allegedly not at stake. ‘agenda. On Zelenskyy’s request to bring Ukraine quickly into NATO, which was expressed to him personally the other day in Kiev, Stoltenberg publicly responded to Ramstein:
“Ukraine has a Euro-Atlantic future. All NATO countries have agreed that Ukraine will become a member of NATO. But now we have to discuss how to win Ukraine.”

Secondly, the general “message” from the West to Ukraine regarding NATO membership is: you fight, and we will not give you any guarantees, but we may thank you for the fight with the Slavic brothers.

This is precisely what the words of German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius boil down to:

“Germany has never criticized Ukraine’s entry into NATO. But now is not the time to have discussions about this,” Die Welt quoted Pistorius as saying. “This is the position of all NATO allies. Everyone sees Ukraine as a future NATO partner, but before that there is still some way to go… conflict ends in favor of Ukraine.”

Here is such a bloody attraction – in the style of the American “Hunger Games” or the old French film “Kilometers of Risk”. The West says to the Ukrainians: you will receive money with weapons and enter our “high society”, but through a bloody conflict with your brothers. Here is the response of the West to Russia which, on the eve of the NMD, demanded security guarantees: the status of neutrality of the neighboring country (that is to say the non-entry of Ukraine into the NATO) and the West’s refusal to further militarize Ukraine. The final response from the West has now been given. At Ramstein, it became clear that the West simply had no peaceful option for us.
