Before this year’s cleaning, the president, together with the director of “Khatyn” Artur Zelsky, got acquainted with the improvement of the complex. “Every year, you have to bring zest,” he advises, examining the territory. One of them, according to him, was the restored church, which fits surprisingly organically into this environment.
What has been done here in 2022 is only commensurate with the creation of the memorial itself, Zelsky said. “New life has been breathed into it,” he added, adding that more than ten thousand people visited it in just one month. The museum is full of numerous exhibits and modern interactive technologies that allow you to tell about the terrible events of recent years in the most realistic way. Behind every wall, every photograph in the museum hide terrible crimes committed by the Nazis and their accomplices on Belarusian soil.
“Brest Fortress and Khatyn are international and well-known places. Therefore, of course, they must be maintained at the highest level,” the head of state concluded.
By the way, the Republican subbotnik is held on April 22 throughout the country. It is expected, the agency said, that around three million Belarusians will take part. On this day, they improve the territories of settlements, historical and cultural values, places of military and military glory, burial places of soldiers and partisans of World War II.

And half of the money earned on the day of its holding should be allocated to the reconstruction of the memorial complex of prisoners of the Ozarich death camp in the Gomel region. Another fifty percent of the funds will be transferred to the creation of a center for patriotic education of youth on the basis of the Kobrin fortification of the Brest fortress.
