Journalist Nikolai Dolgopolov – on the real reasons for the dismissal of Tucker Carlson

– Published on:

He was fired because he was sentenced to be fired for, say, the brazen idea that he could have his own opinion. Yes, probably the best on TV. Exactly – one of the most popular not only in the English-speaking world, but also in other countries, including ours. He said what he thought. And he didn’t just stigmatize, he sometimes even denounced someone. And for some reason he spoke about Ukraine without the obligatory lisp of servility, frankly saying who he takes Zelenskyy for. However, he not only aired but also garnered high ratings i.e. he enriched his television company in his firmly earned personal prime time. And who doesn’t know what is more important to them, of course – practicality and money, which is essentially a human society created abroad, above all political predilections.

And there you have it, the figurines! No one batted an eyelid when Mr. Tucker was thrown over the fence and Fox News stock plummeted 5 (five!) points in a matter of hours. How could a billionaire and Mr. Murdoch allow such a thing? But he did, because the firings of superstars like Carlson and Co. aren’t decided at the top, but at the top. Maybe he winced, but he agreed.

<

p class=””>I don’t claim to be a clairvoyant. But for some reason, he was sure Carlson would “survive” before Biden’s presidential campaign began. It would be more logical. All the same, in a way, but a certain decency would be preserved: we have democracy, but it is wrong to call the future president a person who almost fell into insanity, so we will smack him. How and how to comply. But removing the brightest star from the TV sky later, at the very start of the primaries, in a way meant substituting “Sleepy Joe” for it. Carlson, who was still unsuspecting on Friday, was informed of the breakup on Monday morning, giving him the last weekend to take a leisurely stroll around his house.

But it has happened before, more than once. Not only in the United States, but also in other allied states – the cradles of world democracy. Let me give you an example. Once upon a time there was a very talented presenter of political programs from 8 p.m., Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, on the first French telebutton TF-1. The surname is really difficult to pronounce, but it testifies to belonging to an ancient noble family, sacred in France. Patrick was professionally stronger than Carlson. Deeper, more intelligent, he writes complex literary and philosophical essays, compared to which his television interviews with the great writers of France pass for popular programs. Take a tour of Paris on a motorbike. When, in the middle of the famous tennis tournament, Roland Garros showed up at the gates of the always crowded stadium, the police saluted and left the genie on his clunker right in the stadium, almost on the court.

Poivre, although this word is translated from French as “pepper”, was not as sharp on the tongue as Carlson. But sometimes he allowed the rulers of blessed France to be lightly pinched. And once he dared to call then-President Nicolas Sarkozy something spicy, but not spicy, like “a little boy.”
See more in the opening paragraphs of this “review” from me. He was dismissed without much explanation from the first non-state French channel on the spot. But what about the true owner of TF-1, billionaire Mr. Murdoch? Excuse me, of course, not Mr. Murdoch, but Mr. Bouygues, which, however, in this case does not matter. So he also reminded the proud offspring of an old family of the thrown words, as it turned out, carelessly, in one of the interviews. He dared to say that he was going to work as a television presenter until the age of 65. The innocent sentence exasperated Bouygues: “He will tell me anyway until what age he will stay on television.”

Politics can turn off any TV star. Even laying golden eggs.

She wouldn’t extinguish all the stars in general by doing so.
