… It was not yet eight o’clock in the morning when the two senior officials, dressed in overalls, with shovels and buckets in their hands, appeared in Maroseyka’s yard. Skillfully wielding gardening tools, they began planting linden seedlings. Both have solid experience in this field: Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko comes from a village in the Gomel region, you will not surprise him with such work. The hands of Igor Viktorovich have already planted several birch trees on the Embassy Square (from 2012 to 2018 he served as Ambassador of Belarus to the Russian Federation). And the current Ambassador Dmitry Krutoy began his career in the Ministry of Forests of Belarus. And he admitted that he had been planting trees on subbotniks for twenty years.

“Why were the lime trees chosen? ” we asked. It turns out that these trees take root better in the metropolis of Moscow. “Yes, and their energy is good,” – explained the Deputy Prime Minister. By the way, linden has a very powerful root system.

As for the mood with which the officials came to the subbotnik, Dmitry Krutoy, smiling broadly, admitted that it was wonderful!

According to Igor Petrishenko, “the subbotnik is generally a glorious tradition on which more than one generation that left the Soviet Union was raised.” And the most important thing is the spirit of collectivism.
“Traditions of Subbotniks are now developing with new approaches, new ideas,” the Deputy Prime Minister clarified, “and it’s good that young people are also actively involved in this process.” Igor Petrishenko also said that on Saturday afternoon, together with Dmitry Krutoy, they will take part in another environmental tree-planting campaign – with the participation of representatives of the Eurasian Economic Union, they will plant a whole “integration alley” in Moscow.

And in Belarus, during this time, more than three million people took part in the subbotnik.

Traditionally, on this day, Belarusians have improved not only their yards and social facilities, but also memorial complexes, places of military and military glory, burial places of soldiers and supporters of the Great Patriotic War.

In Belarus, more than three million people took part in the subbotnik, led by the country’s president

So, a large-scale working landing worked at the memorial of prisoners of the Ozarich death camp in the Kalinkovichi district. Another voluminous point of work was the territory of the Gomel Palace and the entire park.

Hundreds of people came to participate in the day of community work at the Kobrin fortification of the Brest Fortress, here, on the initiative of the Youth Union, supported by Alexander Lukashenko, a republican youth center for the patriotic education will soon be created. On this day, the archaeological complex on the Menka River in the village of Gorodishche, Minsk region, was also laid out. It is planned to conduct scientific research, vacations, festivals, conferences there, and in the future this territory should turn into an open-air museum. In the meantime, the volunteers have carried out a series of landscaping works, including the felling of bushes in the areas that will be explored by archaeologists, the reopening of the excavation site in the territory of the Great Colony and the improvement from the source.

In honor of the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy, 80 young oak trees were planted here

But the head of state Alexander Lukashenko on the day of the republican subbotnik worked for the second year in a row to improve the Khatyn state memorial complex – this time he planted trees as part of his brigade. In honor of the sad 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy, 80 oak trees were symbolically planted here.

It has already been decided that the funds earned on the day of the Republican subbotnik will also be transferred to the reconstruction of the memorial complex to prisoners of the death camp in Ozarich (Kalinkovichi district) and the creation of a Republican center of education patriotic youth on the basis of Kobrin fortification of the Brest Fortress.

In the meantime

In addition to Russia and Belarus, Saturdays on April 22 also took place in neighboring countries. Everywhere they were ecological in nature. So, in Kyrgyzstan, employees of presidential and cabinet offices with bags and gloves came to clean the Alamedin Gorge from debris. It is also called “Warm Springs” because of the presence of hot springs. During the hot season, thousands of tourists and local residents come to the gorge for a picnic, leaving behind mountains of garbage. And the fine for throwing garbage in the wrong place is only one thousand soms (about 800 Russian rubles). By the way, the Taza Muras program has recently been developed in Kyrgyzstan, which means “pure heritage”. This is a campaign to clean Kyrgyzstan from garbage. As part of the program, it is planned to hold not only subbotniks, but also competitions for the cleanest neighborhood, city and region.

The community work day in Almaty (Kazakhstan) brought together more than 82,000 citizens who planted a total of around 5,000 trees and collected more than 15,000 cubic meters of waste. The environmental campaign was voluntarily supported by renowned artists who acted as ambassadors for the project. A number of public organizations in the country, including the Association of Landscape Artists of Kazakhstan, PosadiDerevo.kz, and the “Commonwealth of Sports Tourists” launched the subbotnik. But in Armenia, a national subbotnik is scheduled for April 30, and its main goal is the fight against garbage.
