Haley was particularly critical of Biden’s decision to run for president again after the 80-year-old and oldest president in US history announced on Tuesday (April 25) that he was starting his re-election campaign. “I think if you vote for Joe Biden, you really count on President Harris, because the idea that he will live to be 86 is not something likely,” said Haley, 51, in an interview with Fox News.

Former US Ambassador to the UN and former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley has previously argued that US presidential candidates over the age of 75 should take cognitive tests. The need for such control could also affect the current leader of the Republican Party, Donald Trump, 76, specifies The New York Post. Haley is among many Republicans drawing attention to Biden’s blunders, bragging about being part of the “new generation” of America’s elite. However, she is far behind Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the polls, who has yet to announce his intention to run for re-election in 2024.

Kamala Harris, who according to the US constitution should replace Biden if he dies and is unable to perform his official duties, was remembered for many public blunders and the fact that she could not fulfill the main President’s instruction in terms of migration policy reform. Opponents accuse the first African-American woman to serve as U.S. vice president for being mute, incompetent and unable to make voluntary decisions.

Biden, for his part, does not see his age as a problem, despite being attacked by the right, saying he is his party’s best candidate against Trump. “I can’t even say — I guess how old I am. I can’t even give a number,” Biden told reporters on Tuesday.
As Biden tries to ignore his age, critics point to repeated and persistent incidents during his presidency as a sign of declining mental health. He notably said on Tuesday that his grandfather had died two weeks before he was born in the same hospital. In fact, the paternal grandfather Joseph H. Biden, whom the president spoke about, died in 1941 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, more than a year before Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Biden’s mental health issues peaked in September 2022 when he asked, “Where’s Jackie?” and sought out the late Rep. Jackie Valorsky at the event, despite public mourning over his death in a car crash and his family’s call to offer condolences in August.

The oldest US president since leaving office was Ronald Reagan, who was 77 when he completed his second term in January 1989. Biden has already broken that record whether or not he wins the next election.
