A particle of the Eternal Flame from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which was delivered to Cyprus by Russian actress Yana Poplavskaya and Channel One TV presenter Alexander Smol, has been placed at the World War II war memorial located here.

We greatly appreciate it,” said the Russian Ambassador.

We will win, because our boys are worthy successors to the work of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers,” Poplavskaya pointed out.<p class=””>Speaking at the rally, TV presenter Alexander Smol, in an interview with an RG correspondent, admitted that participating in such events is always “very emotional for him, tears in his eyes at such times”. According to him, there are clear attempts to rewrite history in the West.

We will fight this. No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten!” , said Filaniotis.

Yesterday’s event in Larnaca ended with the performance of one of the best and most popular works about the war – the song “Cranes”. From the particle of the Eternal Flame brought to Cyprus, dozens of lamps were lit, and several of them were handed over on the same day to Russian veterans of the Great Patriotic War living on the island, who, for reasons of health, could not arrive at the event.

Today another event will take place at the Monument to Fallen Soldiers in the city of Limassol. In the capital of the Republic of Cyprus – Nicosia – from a particle of the Eternal Flame, lamps will be lit near the icon of the Holy Trinity “Homeland”.<p class=””>The festive program devoted to the Day of Victory in Cyprus includes the exhibitions “The Way to Victory” and “The Nuremberg Trials. View from Moscow”, as well as the screening of the film “Nuremberg” directed by Nikolai Lebedev.

Victory car rallies are planned in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos. On May 9, a procession of the “Immortal Regiment” will take place in the center of Limassol. A festive concert and fireworks are also planned here. According to the organizers, field kitchens and fairs will operate at all sites. Considering that more than 5,000 people are expected to attend the event, special emphasis is placed on putting in place all the necessary security measures. On this issue, Russian diplomats are cooperating closely with the Cypriot authorities, representatives of the Russian Embassy in Nicosia told RG.
